I am 34 years old, and have been making a full time income reviewing products online. Before that, I was fixing computers for the longest time. Before “speed up” and “registry fixer” software was available I had to do it all manually. It’s an arduous task, and was my least favorite (on par with wiping puke off the screen occasionally; darling customers). Sometimes it went wrong, too. I have vivid memories of long nights re-installing Windows-es I killed by editing the registry in an attempt to fix them.
When the registry was first introduced in Windows ’95 it was all trial and error, hit and miss. No information, no tools. Things have moved on since then, thankfully.
